Auctioneers

History:

Jim Lambert Auctioneers began 25 years ago when Jim Lambert graduated from McBain High School and fulfilled his desire to become an auctioneer.  After traveling to St. Louis, Missouri and graduating from the Missouri Auction School, Jim returned to this area. As a beginning auctioneer, Jim also worked at other jobs to support himself.  These jobs would later prove to be valuable experience, as they all would provide a needed background for his present endeavors.  His time spent trucking for Bill Hughston, testing milk for DHIA, and managing the Marion livestock barn all contributed to his development.  While working as a milk tester and trucker, Jim also started helping Al Hoekwater, a local auctioneer, with his sales.  As a result of Al’s deteriorating health, Jim eventually bought his auction company and began what has become Jim Lambert Auctioneers.

Jim bought his first truck and trailer from his future Father-in-law, Hubert Zuiderveen, about 20 years ago.  In 1987 Jim took over Hubert’s trucking route and soon added Al Bode’s route to his trucking business.  As a result of his contacts as a milk tester, Jim was able to add additional customers to his trucking routes and soon had a busy schedule hauling to area stockyards and slaughterhouses.  As the years went by, Jim continued to upgrade his trucks and trailers.  When Jim became manager of the Marion livestock sale barn, his trucking business had grown to the point that often other truckers were needed to meet the demand.

With the growth of Jim Lambert Auctioneers, many auctions were large enough to warrant additional auctioneers.  Jim’s brother-in-law, Greg Zuiderveen, was added as an auctioneer about 10 years ago to help with the selling duties.  Greg brought with him not only his skills as an auctioneer, but also his experience selling large equipment.  The business continued to improve and grow.

In December of 2004, the Marion livestock sale barn was closed by its out of state owners, resulting in a void in the Marion/McBain area.  Jim Lambert believing that area farmers were better served with a local outlet for their cattle, started the Cattle Division of Jim Lambert Auctioneers.  With a livestock collection held each Wednesday at Jim’s farm north of McBain, order buying and selling of all classes of cattle, and trucking of livestock available, this part of the business continues to grow and improve.

The trucking business includes their trailers, giving Jim Lambert increased capacity with 4 gooseneck trailers ranging from 16’ to 26’.

Jim Lambert Auctioneers has grown into a full service auction sale and livestock marketing company.  Under the direction of Jim Lambert, the business continues its history of success.
